While the federal government’s indefinite partial shutdown continues, the City of Evanston has announced its planned holiday shutdown schedule for the Christmas and New Years holidays.

Trash and recycling collections will be delayed by two days this week. So, for example, Monday pickups will occur on Wednesday. One exception — Friday condo recycling collections will be delayed just one day, until Saturday.

Next week there’ll be no trash or recycling collections on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Tuesday through Thursday collections will occur one day later than usual.

Friday condo recycling collections will happen as scheduled, but Friday condo trash collections will happen on Saturday, Jan. 5.

The Civic Center, Chandler-Newberger Center, Ecology Center, Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, Gibbs-Morrison Center, Levy Center, Noyes Cultural Arts Center and Robert Crown Center will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1.

In addition: 

  • The Chandler-Newberger Center will be closed today and will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
  • The Fleetwood-Jourdain Center will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
  • The Gibbs-Morrison Center will be closed Dec. 26-28.
  • The Levy Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 26-28 and will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
  • The Noyes Cultural Arts Center will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.
  • Evanston Public Library locations will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 and will be closed on Dec. 25. All library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will be closed on Jan. 1.
  • The 311 Center will close at 4 p.m. Dec. 24 and 31 and will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
