FlatTop Grill, a Chicago-based Asian restaurant chain with an outlet on Church Street in downtown Evanston, is merging with a similar local chain.

Crain’s Chicago Business reports FlatTop and Stir Crazy Restaurants have come together to form Flat Out Crazy LLC.

Each chain has 14 restaurants and the goal of the merger is to help the two brands expand nationally.

FlatTop, with a self-serve model, and Stir Crazy, a sit-down style restaurant, will each retain their individual names and menus, says Greg Carey, president of the new Chicago-based company, which will have combined annual revenue of $60 million.
