Evanstonian Phil Jungmann, like many of us, has been looking into the darkened windows of local shops in these days of pandemic. What he saw inspired him to put together a video documenting the scene — with a hope for a return to more normal times.

Jungmann, who was laid off from his job as an ad agency creative director last month as a result of COVID-19’s impact on the ad business, says there’s something haunting about seeing the all the businesses shuttered, and he created the video “to let the business owners know they weren’t forgotten.”

Bill Smith is the editor and publisher of Evanston Now.
