A two-block stretch of Main Street in Evanston — from Chicago to Sherman avenues — will be closed much of Thursday and Friday for repaving.

City crews will mill off the top two inches of asphalt on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then, on Friday, A. Lamp Concrete Contractors will install new asphalt between 7 a.m. and noon.

The street will be closed and parking will be banned during work hours and flaggers will be on the scene to direct traffic. The street will reopen and parking will be available overnight.

The work should have the street looking all fresh and shiny for next month’s Custer Fair.
