The body of a male, college-age person was discovered in Evanston at about 1:10 p.m.  this afternoon floating in the lake in the 300 block of Sheridan Road by Chicago police who were following up on a missing-person report.

The identity of the corpse was not immediately confirmed, according to Cmdr. Joseph Dugan of the Evanston Police Department, although clothing and personal items belonging to the missing person was also located on the shoreline, he said.

There were no signs of foul play, Dugan said.  Evanston detectives, he added, are currently conducting a death investigation into the matter.

No further information is being released, pending formal identification of the deceased and notification of next of kin, Dugan said.
