Man blasts window with shotgun

An Evanston man is due in court next week after being arrested on firearms charges.

Evanston police say that about 11 p.m. Monday night a 19-year-old man living in the 1900 block of Lee Street told them that a man from the neighborhood who he’d quarreled with earlier in the evening had appeared at his door with a shotgun and had shot out a window in the house before fleeing the area on foot.

Police say they spotted a man matching the description of the suspect nearby in the 900 block of Dodge Avenue and noticed what appeared to be a rifle barrel protruding from his pants.

After a struggle, the officers managed to take the man into custody and recovered a shotgun they say the man had concealed down his pants.

The suspect, who police identified as Randall Etienne Lauture, 24, of 928 A Dodge Ave., faces a variety of charges including unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated and reckless discharge of a fiream and resisting arrest.

He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. next Thursday, Sept. 25.
