Police say an Evanston man has been charged with battery for allegedly beating a woman he’d hired to perform sexual services.

Officers were called Saturday to a report from multiple callers of a battery in progress on the seventh floor of an apartment building at 800 Hinman Ave.

Police Cmdr. Diane Davis says arriving officers found the victim bleeding from the back of her head.

Davis says the victim was uncooperative but was taken to St. Francis Hospital where she received two stitches to close the head wound.

The man who’d allegedly hired her, John Dotson, 41, of 800 Hinman, was taken into custody.

Police say that after interviewing the victim, the State’s Attorney’s office declined to file felony charges against Dotson, but charged him with misdemeanor battery instead.

He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court on Oct. 3.
