Police say a 32-year-old Evanston man has been charged with robbing two postal carriers earlier this week.
Cmdr. Ryan Glew says police worked with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to identify Everett Pullett, who lives in the 800 block of Washington St., as the suspect.
Glew says police stopped a car driven by Pullett in the 900 block of Ridge Avenue Wednesday afternoon and took him into custody on an outstanding warrant.
In executing a search warrant at Pullett’s home, Glew says police recovered a Glock 36 handgun, proceeds from the robberies and clothing worn during the robberies.
Those holdups had occurred Monday afternoon in the 1600 block of Monroe Street and just before noon Tuesday in the 2400 block of Nathaniel Avenue.
The State’s Attorneys Office approved felony charges for two counts of armed robbery and one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. He was scheduled to appear for a bond hearing at the Skokie courthouse today.
Police are still seeking another man who took part in the Monday robbery.
Armed robbery of a postal employee is also a federal crime punishable by up to 25 years in prison and Glew says federal charges are still being considered in the case.
