A 53-year-old man died Monday evening when he jumped from an upper floor of the Sherman Plaza parking garage in Evanston.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew says officers were called to the scene after a witness saw the man jump shortly before 6:30 p.m. into an alley on the north side of the garage.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says the victim lived in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood.
