Man electrocuted at Evanston CTA station

Evanston police say a man was electrocuted at the South Boulevard CTA station late Sunday evening when he accidentally fell onto the electrified third rail.

Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says CTA surveillance video shows that the the victim, a 27-year-old man from Indiana, arrived with two companions at the station around 11 p.m.

At some point he stepped off the station platform onto the tracks to urinate, and while there he accidentally fell onto the third rail. He was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital.

Parrott says the victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
