Update: 1:40 p.m.: Evanston police say detectives are interviewing “a person of interest” in the Sunday morning sexual assault of a female Northwestern University student.

The woman told police she was asleep about 6 a.m. Sunday when a man entered her second floor apartment in the 600 block of Grove Street through an unsecured window.

Police say the man placed his hand over her mouth and told her to be quiet. Then, after fondling her genitals, he fled from the building.

Police say the victim described the suspect as a male Hispanic about 40 years of age, 5-feet-7-inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds. She said the suspect was wearing a black hat, black sunglasses, white T-shirt, white knee length shorts and sneakers.

The victim added that the suspect spoke with a heavy accent and had a strong body odor.

Police say that in searching the area around the apartment, they located a man matching the description the victim provided and that he’s now being interviewed by detectives.
