Evanston police say a man jumped from the 26th floor of the Optima Views condominium building today.
The incident happened about 3:30 a.m., and police say the victim landed on a fourth-floor a patio at the building, which is one of the tallest in the city.
Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identity isn’t being released, pending notification of relatives.
Parrott says police are still investigating, but that it doesn’t appear that the victim was pushed.
Why?
Please stick with this story. It is tragic. It may be helpful to others to understand why and what brought someone to commit suicide in idyllic Evanston.
It’s tragic.
Since last November, I believe this is the third suicide of this nature to have occurred in downtown Evanston. And it does make one wonder.
