Evanston police were called to assist Chicago officers Sunday afternoon at Willye B. White Park where a 22-year-old man was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head.

The shooting reportedly took place about 3:45 p.m. and a large crowd gathered at the park, which runs between Jonquil Terrace and Howard Street about two blocks east of the Howard CTA station.

Police had not released the victim’s identity, pending notification of relatives.

Witnesses said they heard at least four shots fired during the incident.

It was the second fatal shooting in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago that borders Evanston this month.
