Evanston police are investigating a shooting this morning that occurred in the alley in the 600 block of Case Place in the city’s 8th Ward.

Police say the victim, described as 25- to 28-year-old black male, is undergoing emergency surgery at a local hospital for bullet wounds to his head and chest.

Deputy Police Chief Joe Bellino, in a news release, said the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the shooting.

He said the victim’s identity has not been confirmed. The one-block-long Case Place is located just northwest of where the CTA’s Purple Line and Yellow Line tracks cross each other.
