Evanston police say a 31-year-old Chicago resident was shot Tuesday night on the sidewalk between 1124 and 1126 Florence Ave.

The building at 1124 Florence houses, among other businesses, the offices of the Evanston Roundtable newspaper.

Police say when they responded to the scene about 7:44 p.m., they found the man suffering from multiple injuries. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital. Police say his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Witnesses reported hearing three or four gunshots and then someone screaming for help.

Police Commander James Elliot say police have no known motive for the incident. The investigation is continuing and no one is in custody.
