Evanston police say a man was shot about 3:20 this afternoon in the 1300 block of Dobson Street.

Update 6 p.m.: Police spokesman Perry Polinski says the victim, a 33-year-old man who doesn’t live in Evanston but has ties to the community, was sitting in a car when a black male suspect wearing a black hoodie and black pants ran up to the car, fired several shots and fled on foot.

The victim either drove himself or was driven by a friend to to St. Francis Hospital where he’s being treated for multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Polinski says police located shell casings at the scene and are continuing to investigate the shooting..
