CTA service on the Red, Purple and Yellow lines was disrupted this afternoon after a 20-year-old man was fatally shot about 12:20 p.m. at the Howard Street CTA station

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the man was struck in the chest and neck when someone approached him and fired shots.

Paramedics treated the man before he was taken in critical condition to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and pronounced dead.

Chicago Police say the suspected shooter was last seen fleeing on foot north on Paulina.

The CTA says the Red Line is running with delays due to the police investigation while Purple Line service has been suspended between Howard and South Boulevard and Yellow Line service has been suspended completely.

Shuttle buses are being made available to shuttle Purple Line passengers between South Boulevard and Howard. Shuttle buses and the Route 97 bus can provide alternatives for Yellow Line passengers.
