A Rogers Park man was struck and killed by a CTA Purple Line train near Isabella Street in Evanston early this morning.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office told the Chicago Sun-Times the victim was Eric Utech, 42, of the 1300 block of West Fargo Avenue.

The Chicago Tribune quotes a CTA spokesman as saying power to the tracks from Davis Street to Linden Avenue in Wilmette was cut off after the 1 a.m. accident and shuttle buses were used to transport riders until the line’s normal 3 a.m. closing time.
