Evanston police say a call of a man with a gun near the intersection of Foster Street and Ashland Avenue about 11:30 this morning has led to three arrests.

Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says officers chased and arrested two 16-year-old males seen running from the intersection. One chase ended in the rear of a residence in the 1900 block of Ashland with the youth in custody for obstructing police. The other ended at the intersection of Emerson Street and Ashland. That youth was taken into custody for possesson of marijuana and also charged with theft in connection with a previous incident.

Meanwhile, Dugan says, a large group of people came out of the rear of one of the properties in the Emerson Square development in the 1900 block of Ashland, and obstructed officers as they attempted to deal with the juvenile in custody there.

He said an 18-year-old man in that group tried to batter an officer. He was tased and taken into custody for obstruction, battery to a police officer and resisting arrest.

Dugan says officers retracing the path of the foot chases were unable to locate any weapons. The name of the 18-year-old arrested was not immediately available.
