Man with gun seen near campus

Northwestern University police report that a passenger in a car displayed a gun to a student walking on campus last night.

The police say the male student was walking north on the east side of Sheridan Road approaching Garrett Place about 6:55 p.m. when a older white four-door car driving southbound on Sheridan turned east on to Garrett Place and stopped.

The police say the male student was walking north on the east side of Sheridan Road approaching Garrett Place about 6:55 p.m. when a older white four-door car driving southbound on Sheridan turned east on to Garrett Place and stopped.

A passenger in the rear seat yelled something at the student and displayed a black semi-automatic pistol. The driver then turned the car around in Garrett Place and continued south on Sheridan Road.

The student was not injured.

The driver of the vehicle was described as a white male, late teens or early 20s in age, with medium length blond hair. The passenger was described as a white male, late teens or early 20s in age with short dark brown hair. The victim could not provide a further description of either subject.
