The Phyllis Ganser Outstanding PTA Volunteer of the Year Award was presented this week to Marge Morris, parent and PTA stalwart at Evanston’s Oakton Elementary School.

The award, named in memory of Phyllis Ganser, who died a victim of breast cancer in 2000, was presented at the Evanston/Skokie District 65 school board meeting by Sue Ganser Levinson, Phyllis’ sister.

Morris is a former president of Oakton’s PTA and has been a loyal Oakton volunteer for 10 years, according to Levinson.

The award is presented annually by the district’s council of PTAs to “an individual who has demonstrated true dedication in his or her service to the PTA and the community.”
