Saint Mary Parish, 1012 Lake St. in Evanston, is holding a special Catholic Mass for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Saint Mary’s is home to a sizeable Haitian faith community. The Mass will be celebrated in a charismatic Catholic tradition.

Saint Mary’s is home to a sizeable Haitian faith community. The Mass will be celebrated in a charismatic Catholic tradition.

The Haitian community celebrates Mass on the first Sunday of every month at 12:30 p.m. The Haitian parishioners sponsor two prayer groups at Saint Mary’s: Thursday evenings in Creole and Friday evenings in English.

Many Haitian parishioners also participate regularly in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 7 p.m. For more information, contact Saint Mary Parish at 847-864-0333.
