A large oak tree in the front yard of a home at 2731 Hartzell Street in northwest Evanston fell this afternoon and blocked the street.

Paul D’Agostino, assistant director of public works, says the falling tree “completely crushing the parkway tree in the front of the house.”

D’Agostino says one car parked on the street suffered minor damage as did another parkway tree across the street.

No one was injured, and D’Agostino says the city’s forestry division has “a double crew on site to clear the street and the sidewalks.”
