Evanston-based Mather LifeWays announced plans today to renovate and expand its Mather Place of Wilmette at a cost of nearly $24 million.
The Wilmette facility, opened in 1989 at 2801 Old Glenview Road, currently has 122 residents in its 135 apartment units.
A $6.5 million renovation project will start late this spring. It includes an expanded fitness center and wellness suite, a cinema, updated creative arts studio and sundries shop as well as expanded multi-purpose spaces, library and computer center and an enhanced salon and day spa.
The expansion, which will begin early next year, is projected to cost about $17 million, and will add 39 apartments to the complex.
It will also add an indoor swimming pool, a café and other amenities.
“Our vision is to provide a boutique senior living residence that is a preferred choice among adults who wish to remain in or move to the Village of Wilmette,” Mather CEO Mary Leary said in a statement.
