Patricia Maunsell, a candidate for the Evanston Township High School District 202 Board, greeted a roomful of supporters at the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center Wednesday night.

A Vermont native who has worked for a number of non-profit organizations in the educational field, Maunsell holds a masters degree in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University and is a former president of the Kingsley School PTA.

She told the group that her goals as a board member will be to support equity, preparation of the “whole student,” and  communication and engagement with the ETHS community.

“ETHS is on the right track,” she said, “but we must keep trying to do better.”

Her husband, David, is a 1980 ETHS graduate. Their son, Riley, is a 2014 graduate, and their daughter, Kathryn, is a junior at the school. The family has lived in Evanston since 2001.

Maunsell has also served as a member and board chair of the McGaw YMCA Board of Directors.

She won the Phyllis Ganser PTA Volunteer of the Year Award in 2006.

Maunsell is one of six candidates competing for four positions on the seven-member board.
