Summer employment opportunities are available for teens at the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program Job Fair, scheduled from 8 a.m. till 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the Evanston Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a nine-week summer work experience for in-school Evanston youth 14 to 18 years of age.
The City and local businesses offer teens a variety of full and part-time jobs, such as office assistants, camp counselors, field assistants, custodians, health aides, production assistants, inclusion aides and program assistants.
In addition, teens are assigned to the community service component where they perform tasks that include the cleaning of parkways, alleys, traffic calming circles and some parks. There is also a paint crew that will take on such projects as painting traffic signals and boxes.
At the Job Fair, teens can meet and interview with employers who have jobs available for them. Teens should come to the Job Fair appropriately dressed for success. For further information, contact the City of Evanston Human Relations Commission, (847) 866-2920.
