The first event commemorating the 125th anniversary of the McGaw YMCA, the “Back (And) to the Future” gala held in late last month, drew a record 400 attendees and grossed $150,000, the largest amount ever for a ‘Y’ event.

The funds raised will benefit all the Y youth programs, providing scholarships for kids who otherwise would be unable to participate in activities, including sports, mentoring, swimming lessons and camp experiences.

The YMCA also has set a new membership record, topping 11,000 members this year.

“The 125th anniversary has resulted in greater awareness of how the Y’s programs support the community all over the North Shore”, said Matt Johnson, vice president of marketing and development.

Photos and video from the January gala are available on the McGaw YMCA website.
