An apparent gunfight between two individuals Sunday night in the vicinity of Emerson Street and Hartrey Avenue caused damage to five vehicles and three homes, Evanston police said, but there were no injuries reported from the incident.

Cmdr. Jay Parrott said that the department received reports of gunshots in the area shortly before midnight.

When police arrived, they found 20 shell casings from two weapons, leading them to believe it was a gunfight between two individuals.

While the behavior indicated it was gang-related, that could not be confirmed, Parrott said.

Witnesses reported the involvement of a black minivan, Parrott added, and he asked if any citizens have any information about the incident, they should call Evanston police.
