There’ll be big doin’s at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center on Saturday, Jan. 14, as Evanston celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Co-sponsored by the Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre, the “Day of Celebration” will begin at noon and continue through the afternoon, complete with entertainment and speeches.

Emcee Aubrey Marquez will keep the action moving as she introduces the Evanston Children’s Choir, Ajoite Drum & Percussion and the Glass Family Drummers, Evanston Community Drill Team, Christ Temple Praise Dancers, bluesman Vince Agwada, recording artist Sakari, and the Fleetwood-Jourdain Singing Fourtet.

Special guest will be WCIU television personality Jeanne Sparrow.

Speakers will include Alderman Dolores Holmes, Rev. Kenneth Cherry, and former Evanston Mayor Lorraine H. Morton.
