Aldermen tonight are scheduled to vote on a special use permit for a project that will bring together two Chicago businesses under one Evanston roof.
The Dollop Coffee Co. and Hoosier Mama Pie Co. plan to open at 749 Chicago Ave. in the new AMLI Residential building.
They’ve worked together before. Haney’s pies are sold at Dollop and Siegelin built the counter for Dollp’s first shop.

In the application to the city, Weiss said the shop will be “a fast-paced cafe by morning, a busy work environment for cafe-goers by day, and a relaxed dinner/dessert environment by evening.”
He says it will feature sweet and savory pies, high-end coffee, cheeses, and craft bottled beer and wine.
Haney’s pies have gotten rave reviews, including from Rick Kogan of the Tribune, and plans for the new Evanston location’s special use permit have won endorsement from the city’s Site Plan and Appearance Review Committee and the Zoning Board of Appeals.
