Police officials report two more apparent suicides by Illinois youngsters since the death of 10-year-old Aquan Lewis in Evanston early this month.

The Chicago Defender reports Chicago police are investigating the death of a 12-year-old South Side girl found by her father hanging from a clothes hook in a closet in their home on Wednesday.

And in Chatham, Ill., near Springfield, an 11-year-old boy was found hanged on Feb. 4, the day after Lewis was found hanging from a hook in a bathroom stall at Oakton Elementary School.

Police say the girl in Wednesday’s incident had reportedly been depressed about school work.

The Chicago Tribune reports that records from the Department of Children and Family Services show just seven children committed suicide in Illinois between 2002 to 2006, the most recent period for which data is available.
