Evanston is due to get two waves of snow today.

One, already underway, is expected to taper off to flurries by mid afternoon, with another round of snow hitting early this evening

Assistant Public Works Director James Maiworm says public works crews anti-iced main routes this morning and now is out clearing the roads.

The first band of snow is expected to amount to about an inch, with the second somewhat less than that.

Maiworm sayd no parking restrictions are expected to be needed to deal with today.s storm.

  1. Plows and blocked driveways/walkways

A news story the other day was about a suburb when the plows can lower a panel that stops the snow from going on to driveways and walkways.  I'm sure it was not free and with all the intersections and driveways, it seems it would be lowering the panel all the time.

    At least a good idea.
