Evanston is expected to get another three inches or so of snow between 1 and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Streets and Sanitation Superintendent James Maiworm says crews will start salting streets before the snow starts.

With daytime temperatures expected in the upper 30s, the snow that falls in the early afternoon is expected to melt, Maiworm says.

When the snowfall rate increases in the late afternoon, a wet slushy snow is expected to accumulate, and he hopes the advance salting will prevent snow from packing on the roads.

Maiworm says several consecutive days of light snow accumulation are expected this week. Extra crews may be needed to handle that, he says, and parking restrictions may be required.
