Evanston Public Works Department snow plows massed in the Civic Center parking lot this evening.
The gathering was initially scheduled for a award ceremony for the annual “paint the plows” program that has school kids dress up the plows with creative designs in paint that also help the plows shed snow more easily.
But by morning the plows are expected to be on duty as the National Weather Service forecast calls for 3 to 5 inches of snow to fall across the area by Wednesday evening.
The snow is expected to cause travel difficulties — including snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
