Weather permitting, street cleaning will resume in Evanston next Friday, March 1, this year, but what will be new about the schedule will come at the other end of the season.

Aldermen this week approved changes recommended by city staff that will see the city step up the normal once a month street cleaning schedule at the end of the eason to provide three street cleaning runs in the last month and a half of the season — from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15.

Public Works Director Dave Stoneback and Environmental Services Supervisor Kevin Johnson showed off temporary stickers they plan to add to street cleaning signs in the fall as a reminder of the schedule change.

But Stoneback urged residents to sign up for email or text alerts to reduce the chance of ending up with a parking ticket.

Maps and more information about the schedule are available on the city website.
