Homeowners with concerns about their mortgages can learn about loan modifications and how to work with lenders at a seminar Saturday sponsored by the Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs and the City of Evanston.

The program will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St.

Jasmine S. Brewer, the director of housing counseling with the Interfaith Housing Center, will present information and walk participants through the loan modification process.

Topics will also include communicating effectively with your lender, completing the forms related to loan modifications, avoiding mortgage rescue scams, and how to spot forms of predatory lending.

Brewer says she has counseled over 400 north suburban homeowners and helped over three dozen families keep their homes.

The Interfaith Housing Center of the Northern Suburbs is a 37-year-old not-for-profit organization founded on the premise of fair and affordable housing advocacy.
