Evanston police say they arrested three men and a woman Saturday after fights broke out at a funeral dinner for homicide victim Javor Brooks.
Brooks, of Chicago, was shot Feb. 19 outside 1126 Florence Ave. in Evanston and died March 9 at St. Francis Hospital.
Police Commander Tom Guenther says police were monitoring the funeral event at the Family Focus Center, 2010 Dewey Ave., about 2:45 p.m. when several people started arguing and fighting with each other.
Police on the scene called for reinforcements, and more Evanston officers along with Northwestern University Public Safety and Skokie Police officers responded to the scene and were eventually able to quell the disturbance, Guenther said.
Police say Elmo S. Hatfield, 39, of 7661 N. Sheridan in Chicago, faces mob action and marijuana possession charges; Sheldon J. Morales, 26, of 9128 Bennett in Skokie, faces charges of mob action and obstructing a police officer; Dale Rafael Miquel Richardson, 28, of 1718 Dodge Ave. in Evanston, faces an aggravated assault charge, and Zipporah Saphire Morales, 24, of 7000 S. Wood in Chicago faces charges of mob action and obstructing police and disobedience to police.
