The Evanston Fire Department has announced the promotion of Battalion Chief William Muno to deputy chief of operations.
Muno is a 34-year veteran of the department. His promotion is effective May 10.
He’s been battalion chief for nine years and previous was a fire captain for 16 years.
“Chief Muno is one of the most knowledgeable people I know in the fire service,” said Fire Chief Paul Polep. “Everyone in this organization will greatly benefit with Chief Muno in this senior leadership role.”
Muno been on the department’s training, safety and operating guidelines committees. He also has served as a paramedic preceptor, a role considered vital to helping newer paramedics develop the skills necessary to be effective in the field.
