Evanston/Skokie School District 65 has announced the appointment of three new administrators.

Katharine Ellison has been named interim principal of Washington Elementary School. Ellison moves from her post as assistant principal of Washington to assume this role while the principal is on a leave of absence. She is a former social worker at Dewey Elementary School and has master’s degrees in school leadership and social work from the University of Illinois. She completed her undergraduate work in elementary education at Washington University in St. Louis.

Erik Friedman has been naed interim assistant principal at Washington. He has been with District 65 since 2003 serving as a social worker at Lincolnwood Elementary School.Friedman has a master’s in school leadership from Concordia University, a master’s social work from Loyola University and a bachelor’s in psychology the from University of Illinois.

Yesenia Vazquez is the new bilingual/ESL coordinator for the district. She served as a classroom teacher at Bessie Rhodes Magnet School and was principal intern of Reilly Elementary and was a teacher at Lozano Bilingual in Chicago.
