Evanston aldermen officially approved a contract Monday with Evanston’s new city manager, Wally Bobkiewicz.

The pact provides him with a $185,000 annual salary, annual deferred compensation of $10,000, a $6,000 car allowance, four weeks vacation and an interest-free loan of up to $200,000 for use in buying a new home in Evanston.

Bobkiewicz, who’s currently city manager in Santa Paula, Calif., spoke briefly at the City Council and Administration and Public Works Committee meetings, saying he’s looking forward to starting his new job.
