Piven Theatre Workshop’s production of Encores: After the Theatre and Other Stories, will run from April 21 to May 20, directed by artistic director emeritus Joyce Piven, with the official press opening on Thursday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m.

Encores is described as an artful exploration of the complexities of love through the words of master storyteller Anton Chekhov.

Celebrating 40 years of artistic excellence, Joyce Piven returns to direct a multi-generational cast of artists she has mentored and trained over the last several decades.

The production features Sarah Ruhl’s adaptation of Lady with a Pet Dog starring veteran Piven actors Joanne Underwood and Daniel Smith who both recently starred in Piven’s production of Three Sisters.

With a firm dedication to the years of mentorship and training, members of Piven’s advanced youth ensemble, the Young People’s Company, have also been cast in an adaptation of After the Theatre.

Rounding out the collection of stories is The Trick starring Gillian Hemme and Nathanial Williams, both making their debuts at Piven.

Previews are April 21, 22, 24, and 25. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m on Saturdays,  and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Ticket prices are $15 for preview performances and $25 for regular run performances. Tickets are available at the box office, 927 Noyes St. or online. Student and group rates are available by calling the box office at (847)866-8049.
