Prairie Moon, the Evanston restaurant that closed its long-time location on Sherman Avenue last spring, will open next Thursday on Chicago Avenue, says owner Rob Strom.
Strom, who was catering the groundbreaking ceremony for the Albion Residential development at the former Prairie Moon site Thursday, said the new restaurant in the former location of Dave’s Italian Kitchen at 1635 Chicago Ave., passed its final city inspections within the past few days.
Back in May, as Strom started working on the new location, he said he hoped to be open within about four weeks, but the major renovation of the property ended up taking about four times that long.
Strom says the kitchen in the new location has more than twice the space of the old Prairie Moon so he plans to add some new items to the familiar offerings from the old location, which he’d run for 16 years. Those are expected to include pizza and flatbreads and additional seafood dishes.
