The Evanston/Skokie School District 65 School Board approved the appointment of Max Weinberg as the next principal of Lincolnwood Elementary School at its meeting Monday night.

Weinberg has served as head of the lower school at Catherine Cook School in Chicago for the last three years.

Before joining Catherine Cook, Weinberg worked as an assistant principal at public schools in Chicago and Winnetka. He began his teaching career in the South Bronx and Harlem.

Weinberg has also served as a university-level math education instructor and a literacy consultant and has worked with community-based organizations on the development of educational programming.

Weinberg is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Concordia University. He holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Bank Street College of Education, a master’s degree in school administration and supervision from Fordham University and a bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature from Brandeis University.

Weinberg lives in Evanston.

Michelle Bournes-Thomas has served as interim principal at Lincolnwood this school year.
