1st Annual Empowerment Breakfast and Awards Ceremony

The Evanston community and police department come together to host The Officer & Gentlemen Academy’s 1st Annual Empowerment Breakfast and Awards Ceremony.

This event will be held on Saturday May 19, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Hilton Garden Inn of Evanston, 1818 Maple Ave.  The affair will include: breakfast, guest speakers, and an awards ceremony for our young men.

Our speakers include Ald. Donald Wilson (4th Ward), Sgt. Anthony Correa (Evanston Police Department), Superintendent Paul Goren (Evanston/Skokie School District 65), and the keynote speaker Rev.  Dr. Nabors (Second Baptist Church). The young men of OGA will also be speaking and addressing community members.

City of Evanston Mayor Steve Hagerty will be presenting the “OGA Quintessential Gentleman” Award to one of our program participants.

Tickets for this event are $40 and the deadline for purchasing was May 14. All ticket proceeds will go towards the expansion of the OGA program.

The Officer and Gentlemen Academy is an after-school male mentoring program in partnership with the Evanston Police Department and the Evanston/Skokie School District 65. The academy includes education and mentoring to serve 6th-8th grade young men.

The ultimate goal is to minimize disparities and bridge the gap between confidence and success for young men in our community. The program aims to educate, inspire, and empower our youth to reach their full potential.
