‘A Bright Night for the Arts’

Community members are invited to attend “A Bright Night for the Arts,” a celebration of the Evanston arts scene.

It will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the First Floor Conference Room A of the Rotary International Building, 1560 Sherman Ave.

The celebratory event will include Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl’s Award for the Arts presentation, which has been announced during the Mayor’s State of the City address in previous years.

The Mayor’s Award for the Arts is presented annually to an Evanston arts organization and an individual for contributions to the community through excellence in the arts. Recipients are selected from nominations submitted by the public.

“A Bright Night for the Arts” will also include music, short “Bright Spot” presentations to highlight innovative art projects and programs around the community, tasty small bites and wine catered by the International Café, and a live auction of new works by Evanston artists. A portion of the auction’s proceeds will go toward the Evanston Cultural Arts Fund.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets online in advance for $20. Limited tickets will also be made available at the door for $25.

For more information about the event or the Mayor’s Award for the Arts, please contact Cultural Arts Coordinator Jennifer Lasik at (847) 859-7835 or by email.
