Stephen Sondheim's hit "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" hits Northwestern's Ethel M. Barber stage February 12 through 28.

Sondheim's music and lyrics, along with book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, unearth the classical comedy of Plautus in this madkap musical, here directed by Matt Hawkins.

When wily Pseudolus attempts to win his freedom through a matchmaking scheme, a vaudevillian romp of slaves, soldiers, and whores begins in Ancient Rome.

This award-winning musical farce, given a turn by Hawkins (of The House Theatre of Chicago), features post-show discussions on February 12 and 25.

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" runs February 12 through 28 at the Ethel M. Barber Theater, 30 Arts Circle Drive, in Evanston. Tickets range from $5 to $30, and are available online at www.communication.northwestern.edu/wirtz/funny_thing.
