Lively and moving works from sunny Italy make up this year’s birthday tribute to chapel namesake Alice Millar. Giacomo Puccini was only 17 years old when he composed his Missa di Gloria, but the work is full of memorable melodies and stirring vocal writing, the hallmarks of his mature style. Rounding out the program are two selections from Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana: the sumptuous Intermezzo sinfonico and exultant Regina Coeli.
