The Ethical Humanist Society holds its annual Winter Festival on Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at 7574 N. Lincoln Ave. in Skokie.
Tom Hoeppner and Katherine Ross will lead a traditional celebration of the winter solstice including a candle-lighting ceremony, decoration of a “mitten tree,” group singing and musical and dramatic performances by children.
Donations of new winter clothing and non-perishable food items will adorn the tree and be sent to those in need. “Coffee and” begins at 10 a.m., and following the Festival hot chocolate and homemade cookies will be served.
All are welcome to the Sunday programs, which are free and open to the public, and childcare is available. For more information, please visit ethicalhuman.org.
