Four Stradivari Society recipients and international concert and recording artists will perform a free concert at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston on Thursday, Sept. 12.
Vadim Gluzman, Philippe Quint, Elli Choi and Sandy Cameron will play several rare Italian violins by the legendary instrument makers Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, Giuseppe Rocca and Pietro Guarneri II worth $30 million in a special exhibition, lecture, and concert.
The event celebrates the life of violin dealer Geoffrey Fushi, 1943-2012, and is presented by the Fushi Family and The Stradivari Society.
The concert and pre-concert events will be held in elegant Nichols Concert Hall at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston. The great violins will be available for viewing at 6 p.m.
Historian and author David Schoenbaum will give a pre-concert lecture on the illustrious violin makers of the past at 7 p.m. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
