The second concert of Evanston’s 44th annual Bach Week Festival features J. S. Bach keyboard works with international piano virtuoso Sergei Babayan of the Cleveland Institute of Music and one of Babayan’s former students, Southern California-based concert and recording pianist Grace Fong. Chicago Symphony Orchestra members Jennifer Gunn, flute, and Katinka Kleijn, cello, will perform Bach solo works. Richard Webster, festival music director since 1975, will conduct the Bach Week Festival Orchestra.
The concert is at 7:30 p.m. on May 5 at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave., Evanston.
The program will include J. S. Bach’s Suite No. 2 in D Minor for unaccompanied ‘cello, BWV 1008; Concerto in E Major for Keyboard, BWV 1053; Partita in A Minor for Unaccompanied Flute, BWV 1013; and Concerto in C Minor for 2 Keyboards, BWV 1062.
Carl Grapentine, morning host on classical WFMT radio, will give a pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m.
